Rick Owens x Dr. Martens

Rick Owens and Dr. Martens have joined forces on a collaboration. It takes as its base two Dr. Martens icons: the 1460, known as the eight-eye boot, and the 1918, the eighteen-eye boot. The 1460 features a soft Luna leather upper accented by extra-thick laces and oversized eyelets, while the 1918 pairs a hair-on leather upper with silver eyelets for an elegant look. Both models come with pearl-colored laces, a side zip and a Quad Retro sole about 5 cm high, keeping Rick's dark world view while adding a refined feel. The collection's lookbook stars American performance artist Ron Athey, and Rick explains the casting: "I've known Ron Athey since the eighties, when we would run into each other in grimy LA clubs. He was a go-go boy at Club Fuck and a key figure in the newly born hardcore piercing and techno subculture. Over time, Ron's dancing evolved into the performance art he is best known for today. Ron is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen, and I have been in awe of him ever since. For this collaboration with Dr. Martens, I asked Ron to embody the best example of how graceful an individual quest for transcendence can be."
